When Sin City reopened for business after a COVID-19 shutdown, one of the upsides will be much more free parking in Las Vegas.
All of MGM and Caesars resorts have announced free parking when they reopen following the COVID-19 shutdown, and the Cosmopolitan resort has added its name to this list.

Strictly speaking, the Vegas Strip is a 4.2-mile section of South Las Vegas Boulevard known for its concentration of resort hotels and casinos. It stretches from the Stratosphere Las Vegas, on the northern end, to the Mandalay Bay Resort, on the southern end. But the term “Las Vegas Strip” is often used more loosely to describe not only to the road but also to the hotels and casinos lining it, and even to properties in close proximity.
Free Parking at Hotels on the Vegas Strip
Even before the pandemic hit, all of the resorts on the Strip will let you self-park for free for up to one hour, but that’s not tremendously helpful as most visitors spend longer than an hour in any given property.
Many hotels charge all guests and non-guests for parking when you stay longer than an hour. Guests will have the parking fee charged to their hotel rooms. Non-guests collect a ticket when arriving at the garage, and pay at the gate when leaving.
Beyond the MGM, Caesars and Cosmopolitan resorts, the list of hotels that offer free parking is growing. The Venetian and the Palazzo offer both free valet parking and self-parking. In addition, you can find free self-parking spots all hours of the day at the Tropicana, Sahara, Stratosphere, Casino Royale, and Treasure Island.
At the majority of hotels on the Strip, the general rule is that the pricier hotels charge more than the less expensive properties.
Circus-Circus has always offered free self-parking, while valet rates start at $10 per hour. If you’re making a quick stop along the Strip, parking at the Cosmopolitan is free for the first hour, and then $7 for up to four hours.
The Wynn and Encore hotels now let you park for free without having to spend a minimum on dining, gambling, or entertainment.
Free Parking at Shopping Malls on the Vegas Strip
You might not have come to the Vegas Strip to shop, but shopping malls can be the perfect place to snag a free spot. Find a spot at the Shoppes at Mandalay Place (between Mandalay Bay and the Luxor), the Shops at Crystals (in front of Aria and Vdara) and Fashion Show Mall (across the street from Wynn-Encore). Of course, parking at shopping malls is self-park only.
More Opportunities for Free Parking on the Vegas Strip
There are other ways to snag free parking, but you’ll need to be willing to spend first.
Are you a high roller? Avid gamblers can earn membership to a hotel’s rewards program, and this can also get you access to free parking and other perks all along the Strip. Caesars’ players club members can park for free at Bally’s, Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, Harrah’s, The Linq, Paris and Planet Hollywood, with valet parking included for higher-tier members. The Cosmopolitan has its own players’ club rewards program, with free self-parking for all members and free valet for those with more status.
Veterans and active members of the US military can sign up for a SALUTE platinum card at any Caesars Entertainment property, and that card gets you free valet parking at any of those properties. Caesars Entertainment includes Bally’s, Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, Harrah’s, The Linq, Paris, and Planet Hollywood.
MGM Resorts have a similar program, called M Life Rewards, that offers free self-parking for vets. The program is good at MGM’s many popular locales along the Strip, including Aria, Bellagio, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Mirage, New York-New York and Park MGM.

So, MGM Resorts is about to unleash parking fees upon their customers. They’ll be the first casino operator on the Vegas Strip to charge a fee for parking, a service that has traditionally be free in most Las Vegas casinos. Some downtown Las Vegas casinos you may have been charging a fee or will validate if you’re spending money on property in recent years during events, so this isn’t entirely new.
The parking fees at Aria, Bellagio, Circus Circus, Delano, Excalibur, Luxor, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Mirage, New York–New York and Vdara will start sometime between June 8 and 13, depending on the casino.
MGM Resorts Parking Fees
Here’s a quick overview if you haven’t seen the fees yet:
The self-parking fee is $7 for vehicles parked between 1-4 hours and $10 for vehicles parked between 4-24 hours at the following MGM Resorts: Aria, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Mirage, & New York – New York. The self-parking fee is $5 for vehicles parked between 1-4 hours and $8 for vehicles parked between 4-24 hours at the following MGM Resorts: Excalibur, Luxor & Monte Carlo.
The valet parking fee is $13 for the first 4 hours (no grace period) and $18 for between 4-24 hours at the following MGM Resorts: Aria, Bellagio, Delano, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Mirage, New York – New York, & Vdara. The valet parking fee is $8 for the first 4 hours (no grace period) and $13 for between 4-24 hours at the following MGM Resorts: Circus-Circus, Excalibur, Luxor & Monte Carlo.
Parking Fee + Resort Fee = Wowsers!
These parking fees are not included with your resort fee when you stay at an MGM Resorts property. This is an additional charge between $29 to $32 per night depending on which MGM Resorts hotel you visit. In addition to your hotel room cost, you’ll be responsible for an additional $37-$50 in unadvertised fees per night when you stay at an MGM Resorts hotel. Wowsers!
Free Parking For These People
While the parking fees stink, not everyone will pay for parking at an MGM Resorts hotel. Residents of Nevada will have a grace period until December 29 where they won’t have to pay self-park fees except for major events (most likely, but not limited to T-Mobile Arena).
In addition to locals certain M Life players club members will receive complimentary parking. M life members who are Pearl level and higher receive complimentary self-park. M life Rewards members who are Gold level and higher receive complimentary valet parking.
You can attain Pearl Status by signing up for the M Life Rewards card. You can find specifics here.
